Brief on Harberger
We've spoke a great deal about Harberger taxes and still activly develop this idea. However we've taken a few steps back to build some of the necessary building blocks of Soul Bound Tokens, which underpin the Harberger Taxes. Find out more here.
Championed by an award-winning economist Arnold Harberger, and expanded on by Glen Weyl in this system you don’t own the land, you lease it from the community. If you fail to contribute someone can bid on your land and win it in auction, transferring the lease to them. You are able to set the price of your land with the caveat that you have to pay a tax on the amount you list it for. This system adds a market dynamic to land ownership in an attempt to find the perfect price of property.
